The next postcard is on its way
I’m currently touring a book of short stories by my new favorite Trans* author.
I met Raphael Frumkin in my Hugo House Book Lab class when my teacher invited him to speak with my class about his writing.
The story he wrote for Granta about his uncle’s (all signs point to queer) relationship with my historical obsession, Ernest Hemingway, blew my mind. I found out Rafael not only lives as a rural queer in the midwestern state I fled in 1993, but also just got tenure at SIUC. If only out Trans* professors were a thing when I was there! He is seemingly working tirelessly to fill the manufactured void where Trans* stories go, and I cannot wait to tell you all about Bugsy! Well, not ALL about it, I wouldn’t want to spoil it for you. And you should definitely read it.
